Intellectual Property
Our firm provides legal assistance to clients regarding the enforcement and management of their Intellectual Property portfolios.
The purpose of Intellectual Property (IP) laws is to protect intangible property rights to “intellectual property” such as creative works, inventions, logos, designs etc. These types of IP are utilized in commerce and, as a result, are critical to the financial success of companies. IP laws set out the process & requirement through which IP rights can be acquired and utilized, they also set forth what constitutes infringement upon IP rights and what actions of third parties will be considered infringement of such IP rights. There is also a separate legal framework that protects against unfair competition by prohibiting unethical behaviour in addition to providing additional protection for specific classes of IP. We counsel clients in all legal matters (civil and criminal), including cases concerning infringement upon IP rights as well as cases of unfair competition. If necessary, we assemble a team of experienced attorneys in a variety of legal domains to assist in the representation of the client and we also collaborate with experts in this area of law.
