Prior to founding BGK Law Associates, Dr. Gopalakrishnan was associated with several reputed law firms in Mumbai, leading their Dispute Resolution practices. Driven by a vision to build an institution where quality takes precedence over quantity, he established BGK Law Associates, Advocates and Legal Advisors, in the year 2021 as a boutique law firm focused on delivering precise, high-value legal solutions.
The firm’s practice is not confined to litigation alone and actively undertakes transactional and advisory assignments. Soon after its inception, Dr. Gopalakrishnan was commissioned by multiple public sector institutions, banks, financial institutions, NBFCs, and Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) to comprehensively revise and standardize their documentation manuals. He and his firm continue to serve as trusted legal advisors to various institutions, advising on legal issues across all facets of their business operations.
His areas of practice encompass all aspects of Corporate Law, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code matters, Company Law practice, and a large volume of arbitrations representing banks and financial institutions. He also regularly appears before RERA authorities, Consumer Forums at the State and National levels, and tribunals such as DRT and DRAT.
Dr. Gopalakrishnan’s transactional expertise includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, divestment of non-core businesses, debt restructuring and settlement, acting as legal advisor to Committees of Creditors, Resolution Professionals, and Liquidators, and handling documentation for single, multiple, and consortium lending arrangements. He also advises on share purchase agreements, SEBI-related matters, merchant banking issues, and a wide range of Banking and Finance transactions.
Another key area of practice includes drafting and vetting contracts, joint venture agreements, information technology agreements, and providing legal opinions on diverse issues relating to corporate law. The firm also advises on HR-related legal matters, offering end-to-end legal support to corporate clients.
